Salt Lake Country Club | Brynne’s bridals

Friday, February 27th, 2009

814-0158.jpg It is official, I have a head cold. The NyQuil knocked me out for a while, but then I was awake again, and a DVR chock full of Ace of Cakes, Doctor Who, and Colbert Report couldn’t coax me back to sleep, so here I am! I know, this is insane, because I am NEVER up before 8am [thankfully neither is my son!] but it works out pretty well actually. Since I’ve been gone or traveling all week, my inbox has climbed up to 270. That’s a lot of email to get through, so an early start is just what I needed today! I’m all hopped up on DayQuil now [Seriously, God bless whoever invented these 2 drugs]. Here are a few of my favorite images from Brynne’s bridal session, it was so touch to decide because we ended up with so many that were fantastic!

Engagements | Brynne + Dave in Salt Lake City

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

814-0028.jpg OK, really quick post tonight. I just got back from LA [quick trip to meet with a bride] and the meeting went awesome, but now my head is pounding! I don’t think it is possible to catch a bug this quickly, so it must’ve been from my trip yesterday from Vegas. Anyway, I’ve been taking NyQuil so I’ll be asleep soon, but I did want to share some more pictures, I’ve really been digging blogging these lately! Oh, and in case you heard my rant yesterday on Facebook, I did get the blog software issues settled, using a combination of Wordpress and Ecto. Crazy, isn’t it? I have to use 2 separate programs to get my online journal to look the way I want it to! I think that’s just nutty.

La Caille | Jesse + Jay’s Wedding Day

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

815-0416.jpgWhat a crazy and busy week! I just got back from the wedding photography convention in Las Vegas, and then I was immediately back on a plane there again! This time for the International Catering Convention at the Hilton, it was huge! My good friend Mary Crafts, owner of famed 5 time award winning Best of State Culinary Crafts, was asked to host a mock wedding reception, and she asked me to come down and document all the hard work her crew had put in to make it happen! I promise I’ll have pictures of it, but first, I have to finish telling the story of Jessi and Jay! [See previous post with playful/sexy engagement pictures!] Jessi and Jay had their wedding at the timeless restaurant, La Caille. Their ceremony didn’t start until 5:00 in the afternoon, but their pictures were the number one important thing to them, so we started the day off early around noon up in Park City, and had fun getting portraits of the bride and groom and the entire bridal party! Jessi and Jay did not want to see each other before, so I was very appreciative of the time they gave me to create these!

Engagements | Jesse + Jay in Salt Lake City plus “Back from Vegas”

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

815-0053.jpg I’m back! Back from where? Back from the annual Wedding & Portrait Photographers International [WPPI to those in the know] convention in Las Vegas! i feel a bit bad, I should’ve posted i was going beforehand so those of you who were trying to get a hold of me and couldn’t wouldn’t wonder where I was. And also, to serve as a reminder to those photographers who might be interested, that is really is a rocking great time, and you learn a whole lot and see the latest and greatest that the photo industry has to offer! I found a few new albums I think my brides will be drooling over [I know I was!] that I will be making announcements about very soon, but for now I will leave you with an engagement session from warmer days! [No photos or video from Vegas. 'Cause, you know, what happens in Vegas.......]

Snowbird Resort | Caitlin + James

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

716-0257.jpg I was up at Snowbird Resort this weekend taking portraits of one of my favorite families, and I realized I had not yet shared with everyone the killer wedding I did in the fall up there! It was the perfect day, the air was crisp with the smell of the trees, but it was still warm out. Caitlin and James were married on the main patio of Snowbird’s Cliff Lodge in a beautiful ceremony witnessed by 200 of their closest friends and family.

Ritz Carlton | Bridget + Erik

813-0297.jpg I have been saving writing about this wedding for one of those really crappy weather days, and today was most decidedly a crappy weather day. Well, not so much crappy, and I was just totally unprepared for it. It’s Monday, and on Mondays my nanny is off so it is kinda my day to be with my new son Zen and play. We went out to run a few errands, and it was so sunny and bright I didn’t even wear a coat, and I neglected to put socks on him. [I'm not that terrible of a mom, if i put them on he just rips them off anyway, so it would've ended in the same result regardless. That's what I like to tell myself anyway...] But we ran into one store, and 15 minutes later outside it was a freaking blizzard!!! i know the weather changes quickly in Utah, but i thought it was a bit ridiculous. We made it back to the car somewhat unscathed, he was safe swaddled in his car seat with feet covered in blanket, but I was actually covered in snow! So, tonight, I am going to be warm in my thoughts, and recall shooting this incredible summer wedding on the beaches of sunny Orange County California!

La Caille | Elena + Jay’s Wedding Day

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

808-0187.jpg Elena and Jay were married at La Caille a few months ago, and I have to say I have never seen a bride pay more attention to detail than Elena did! It was the subject of the grooms toast as he recalled her choosing from amongst 14 different shades of white linens for their tablecloths, and while we all laughed, it brought the point home just how much work Elena had put into making her wedding absolutely perfect for her guests, so they could relax and enjoy the day. People had traveled to Utah from the East Coast, Europe and Asia, to be here to celebrate with Elena and Jay, and celebrate they did! Bear with me, there were too many beautiful images, I simply couldn’t cut them down at all!!!
