Snowbird Resort | Caitlin + James
by Pepper
I was up at Snowbird Resort this weekend taking portraits of one of my favorite families, and I realized I had not yet shared with everyone the killer wedding I did in the fall up there! It was the perfect day, the air was crisp with the smell of the trees, but it was still warm out. Caitlin and James were married on the main patio of Snowbird’s Cliff Lodge in a beautiful ceremony witnessed by 200 of their closest friends and family.
I started out the day taking pictures of the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready. Caitlin’s bridesmaids brought along her stuffed elephant from childhood as a joke, but I noticed she did hold on to it while having her makeup done!

Caitlin and James opted to meet each other prior to the ceremony, so that afterwards they could spend the cocktail hour with their guests who had flown in from out of town.

To accent their Scottish heritage, they chose to have a bagpiper proceed them as they made their exit! It was INCREDIBLE!!!! I mean, talk about being Announced and Proclaimed to the world! This is most definitely something I would add on to my wedding if I could do it all over again, even though I’m not Scottish even a tiny bit.

OK, James is absolutely obsessed with the Red Sox [as are many people from Boston I understand] and what better way to show your affection than to dedicate your wedding cake to the cause? This Groom’s Cake was a complete surprise to James from his bride Caitlin and I think it adds a great touch to the wedding when the groom does receive a surprise like that. It’s something that is 100% completely and utterly about him and his interests. Plus, it’s just really cool! I see more and more brides doing groom’s cakes, successfully and delightly surprising them too! And of course, who else in the state could make such a flawless cake but the wonderful Carrie’s Cakes!

Thank you Caitlin and James, your wedding day was amazing!

I am so saddened to say that unfortunately Caitlin’s mother, Gayle Stevens, passed away recently in a tragic car accident.

From what I knew of Gale, I know that she was a truly a bright light in her family and will be remembered as that forever.

She was such a force of good, and is missed by all who knew her, including myself.

She did so much for our community and for Sundance in particular, that the Sundance Film Festival last month just added a service award in her honor – The Gayle Stevens Award for Volunteer of the Year.

She was radiant on this day, and I feel so privileged to have gotten to know her, however briefly. I am so happy that her family will have these images of her to help remember this amazing day always.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Caitlin, James, her father Peter, Caitlin’s brother, and the hundreds of people who knew her and loved her.

We miss you Gayle…..

In the first picture, that’s Piggy! I’ve had him since I was born. He was there to make me feel better because I was so sick.
