The Canyons Resort | Amanda + Cory’s Wedding Day
by Pepper
OMG, do you just love this cake or what?! But I’m getting ahead of myself, we’ll get to that… This is Amanda and Cory’s wedding, who met and began dating in the EIGHTH GRADE. That’s right, this wedding was about 13 years in the making. There were many things that made this wedding great, but I think I have to say my favorite was the scheduling. That may sound pretty boring, especially since I’m teasing you with one of the fabulous details of the day, but as the photographer, I loved the schedule! We started around noon, and everything was very relaxed, very calm, no drama, everyone was getting ready and putting on makeup and having fun together! Having this laid-back day allowed people to just chill. Excellent!

Amanda and Cory’s ceremony was at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Park City. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, best lighting of any Catholic Church in the state!

Yes, that is a bottle of ORANGE GATORADE! Thank goodness the bridesmaids were as nervous as me, they made Amanda wear a plastic bag in case of any spills!

Peeking! Peeking!

Gorgeous arrangements by Every Blooming Thing decorated the Chapel

This is the view from the Church

After the ceremony, we took the bridal party around town for some fun portraits!

This shot with the beer is the uncontested favorite…

Their reception was at the world-famous Red Pine Lodge at The Canyons Resort.

The guests gathered for a surprise champagne send-off and toasted the couple! Then they gathered with their drinks for the awesome ride up the mountain! [And in this usage, I men awesome like the Grand Canyon, not awesome like a hot dog. Eddie Izzard fans, you know what I mean]

The fabulous cakes were absolute masterpieces! The amount of detail that was put into making the grooms cake is unreal! Both cakes were created by the master cake studio, Carrie’s Cakes!

This welcome toast was given by the bride’s two older brothers. These guys are the reason why someone invented Depends, because people were laughing so hard they were nearly wetting themselves!

Every Blooming Thing did an amazing job with their creations. I especially loved the use of ribbon, so it wasn’t just flowers in a vase, it had another element to the design. This isn’t your average floral job baby! These are multi-layered centerpieces, very deep stuff!

Oh, and Every Blooming Thing just won Retail Florist of the Year NATIONALLY!!!!! How cool is that?! Pretty stinkin’ cool.

Tha Salamanders rocked the house for the rest of the night and played a great set, people only stopped dancing when they had to.

The evening was not without its drama though! Remember that awesome car cake from Carrie’s Cakes? Well, it was a surprise to the groom Cory, his dream car! He had no problem cutting the bride’s cake, but when it came to cutting his cake, well, he just didn’t want to do it. So with a room full of people wanting to have a bite, he declined to cut. There was a discussion, which ended with Amanda…..

…. taking the knife and cutting a small piece off of the front fender by herself. The aftermath was Cory, looking very sad and dejected, until he had a brilliant idea to….

… put the piece back in place! Great job Cory! No one will ever notice now!!!
It worked for about a minute, and then then cake was cut up and served to the throng. I actually got to have a piece and I can verify that it was GOOD…..

Thank you Amanda and Cory, it was an honor to be there celebrating with you and everyone else who came out to see you finally tie the knot after 13 years of waiting! I had SO much fun with you both!!!
Love, Pepper
