Argentina Wedding [Day 4] – Bridal Session
by Pepper
I LOVE destination weddings. Love it. New places are so much fun and so exciting!!! My favorite part of any destination wedding though, is this day. the day that I get the bride and groom all to myself. the day to do the fabulous bridal session in a fun and exotic location! Because lets be honest. There’s no way I can get tons of shots like these on the wedding day, especially with a destination wedding, where the ocean might be an hour or two away, or the light is perfect at sunset. I love the golden hour, but more often than not, brides and grooms are sitting down to eat with their guests during that golden hour. So bridal sittings are a very good thing. but, with a destination wedding, it’s a must have!
So Francesca and Dan hung out with me all day, until they had to go and change for the rehearsal dinner that night [stay tuned for tomorrow's post about the amazing rehearsal dinner!] We started off at the Four Seasons Hotel in Buenos Aires. This hotel is famous because when Evita was in production, Madonna lived on the fourth floor in the penthouse suite. One of the guests just happened to be staying on that floor, not in Madonna’s suite, but we thought it’d be fun to get some shots there to start off with. And then, we discovered something wonderful, and we did something very naughty…..

The Madonna Suite has four doors leading into it, all of which have to be locked to prevent nosy photographers from prying their way in…
Someone forgot to lock one of the doors…

This is my version of “Mrs. Robinson”

After this shot, I started feeling panicky and we wrapped it up and left, taking care to carefully straighten everything up! We went up one floor, and this balcony overlooks the floor where you have to walk past to check into these rooms, and as we’re taking this shot, not 10 minutes after we left the Madonna Suite, this couple checks in with 2 dozen LV suitcases! See, it’s the photographer’s sixth sense, knowing when you’re about to be discovered in a location you don’t exactly have permission to be in! I am SO glad we left when we did…

So then we left the four seasons and headed for the most famous of Buenos Aires’ barrios, La Boca. It’s mostly a tourist trap, tons of street vendors selling some cool stuff, some crap, and everyone everyone, had a postcard of some hot Argentine couple dancing the tango in front of this one building called the Caminito. So of course we had to do it too! Everywhere we looked was an explosion of color, incredible!

And then we headed to our final location of the day. This one was my personal pick, and it’s an odd pick, but I took Francesca and Dan to the University of Buenos Aires, specifically the School of Law and Social Sciences. It was modeled after a greek temple and designed about 70 years ago, and it was perfect for what I wanted. I think we got some fantastic shots during the day, but these at the end are my absolute favorite and for me as an artist, these last few shots capture the passion of this couple. At a building where they teach that passion is not the rule, which was modeled after a greek temple dedicated to passion. Interesting…

And the whole time we were doing the tub shots, I just kept thinking, “Huh, this is Madonna’s tub. Geez I hope someone doesn’t walk in on us right now!”
