Album Monday | Snowbird Resort | Caitlin + James
by Pepper
So here it is, 10:30 pm on Monday night, and I am just now writing my Album Monday blog post. Why is this you ask? Well, I happen to have a son. The most adorable almost 2 year old in the history of mankind [or at least in the history of my own mind]. It’s true, I’m biased. His school called me this morning to let me know that Zen had thrown up. Not a good thing.
Maybe it’s every mother’s instinct to immediately want to be with her child when this happens, but I had to ask – “So, is this the kind of thing that I should come and get him, or are you just letting me know?” For future reference, and for anyone else contemplating having a child, the answer is is always going to be, if the school calls to say your kid threw up his sloppy joe and peaches, you need to come and pick him up.
I walk in to his classroom, and it’s all dark and quiet because its naptime and all of the kids are asleep. When Zen sees that I am there, he perks up quickly. Hooray! He might be feeling better! But I still have to take him home, school policy. Your kid horks and he’s gone for the day. End of story.
So we are being all quiet and tiptoeing around the room to get his jacket, and suddenly Zen decides that he’s done with coats and shoes and he wants to leave NOW, and starts screaming as loud as he can. As the other kids all pop their eyes open and begin to sit up, I threw him over my shoulder and hauled out of that building as quickly as I could, trying desperately not to meet the eyes of any of the teachers. He didn’t have his coat or shoes on yet and I didn’t care. Dude, it is so NOT COOL to scream your head off during naptime, waking up the other 200 students in the building! So embarrassing…
And here’s the thing about Zen, as soon as we pass through the second set of double doors, he smiles and starts laughing his pretty little head off. And then I get the joke. He’s not even two, and he learned how to play hooky for the day and cause maximum chaos at the same time. My husband wanted to give him the middle name Trouble, and thankfully I talked him out of it, but it looks like there is nothing in a name anyway. We named him Zen, this beautiful peaceful baby with the staring blue eyes, and he has evolved into a little monster who spent the day perfectly healthy tagging along with me to my meetings and being adorably destructive wherever we went, eating chapstick, throwing salt shakers, putting food down mommy’s shirt, and laughing the entire time.
So i understand the policy of taking kids home when they’re sick, I really do. I just think my kid may have been faking it.
So there’s the explanation for the late posting, but enough of my perfect little demonic angel. [Who is quite healthy, in case anyone is worried] I know it’s Monday, and everyone really wants to hear about today’s Album!

Caitlin and James have some new. Something no one has ever seen before. Ever. I am the first photographer to have access to this gorgeous new cover, which I don’t even know the name of yet, but I’m going to call it Black Snow. There is an identical cover called Snow, and it’s the softest cover available for books, and it’s just delicious. I’m thinking baby skin soft. I was talking with the VP about the Snow cover and how much I love it, but that I had a client who was going to go with Black leather because they wanted Black, and he said “Pepper, you won’t believe this, but we’re going to be offering the Snow cover in black by Spring 2010.” i was really excited, but I didn’t want Caitlin to have to wait that long! So, some strings were pulled, and here we have it! It really is so new that it hasn’t been named yet [and I don't think they'll go with Black Snow, that sounds like something from a forest fire] but it is yummy. Go ahead, touch the screen.

Caitlin and James selected over 460 images, and so we designed for the this custom 8×8″ Book with 300 pages printed on Premium Glossy Paper.

And Caitlin loved it so much, she ordered another copy for her Dad!

Here are a few of my favorite spreads [again my apologies, there are quite a few!]

Hey Pep, I am laughing so hard right now reading your post. Zen has you so wrapped around his little finger. This story sounds very familiar…let me just say CRUE!!! Don’t worry they get better and better this is just the beginning!! On a positive note, your work for this couple is stunning, as always. I love the album cover too! Much Love ~ Taj

Taj, do you mean they get better as in they stop causing chaos in the entire school? Or they get better at causing chaos? I miss you and your three boys!!!

LOL! Pepper, you are hilarious! Zen definitely knows how to handle himself in any situation.

You think?! You know, last night at midnight I went in to check on him. He was jumping up and down in his crib, and when he saw me he started laughing his head off. I went back to bed, but I think he continued to do that for about an hour. Please tell me it gets not so crazy!!!!
