Deer Valley | Karen + Roger | Silver Lake Reception
by Pepper
Deer Valley is one of my favorite places in the world. The entire planet. You might think I’m biased, because I live in Utah, but I’m not. I’ve been to many different places all over the world, and my heart lies here.
One of my favorite things about Deer Valley weddings is the face that we get a lot of New York brides and of course their New York guests for the wedding celebrations. I’m kinda like the bartender at weddings, drunk guests can come up to me and say anything and know that for the most part I’ll keep it to myself. It continues to amaze me that at every wedding I do with out of state guests, they stagger up to me and tell me how beautiful Deer Valley is, and that when they got the Wedding Invitation and it said Utah they thought it would be a backwater, and how pleasantly surprised they are. And then they stagger off again. I love my job!!!
So at Karen & Roger’s Deer Valley reception at the Silver Lake Lodge, half of the guests were from Canada, and while they definitely have some beautiful places in Canada, I still received the most wonderful complements from everyone on how beautiful my town is. And while I can’t take credit for how great Park City is, I certainly appreciate it!
We started off the portrait session at Olympic Park…

… and progressed to the Osguthorpe Barn.

Since the Groom and all of the groomsmen are from Canada and are stealing the Bride from us, we Americans really felt the need to rub it in!

And no matter how much these guys love their country, they still only knew the first verse to “O, Canada”

I told Roger that I was pretty sure that the brown drawbridge on his groom’s cake was made of chocolate, and that I’d love to get a shot of him eating it. And to be fair, I really did think it was made of chocolate. So here is my shot of the groom attempting to eat a brown plastic drawbridge… Ouch. Sorry Roger!

Thank you both so much for letting me be a part of your day, and if you guys ever get sick and tired of all the snow and hockey and moose, please feel free to come back to Park City! We will have a crate of Diet Mountain Dew ready for you when you do!!!
Love, Pepper

What a gorgeous day to be outside with a wide angle lens! I really like the group shots…a wedding party chain…looks like fun. The skies are dramatic, the colors are intense. Beautiful.
