Deer Valley Resort | Courtney + Andrew | Ski Morning
by Pepper
I’m back! Vegas was awesome, I got to see old friends, meet new ones, learn a little, teach a little, and had a blast doing it! I found some amazing new Album Covers for my brides [trust me, you guys are gonna LOVE these!] as well as some fun toys for me!
But I will expound on my new purchases later, for now, we have a chairlift to catch!
So here is a killer January wedding for you all to feast on! I just had a marvelous pizza dinner last week with a Bride and Groom marrying in a few weeks. They said they were going skiing the morning of, but they thought I was crazy when I asked if they wanted me to accompany them. You can ski while photographing?! Yup! My skiing suffers a bit with the camera, but the camera doesn’t suffer from the skis! I told them I had a beautiful wedding I’d just shot that I’d been a bit lazy in getting to the blog, so here it is!
Courtney and Andrew live in London, and according to them, the skiing is just not as good. So even though it’s their wedding day, they wanted to start the marriage off on the right foot by skiing with their friends and family the morning of the ceremony! Was it cold? Well, yeah. [Deer Valley is on top of a mountain...] But not too cold. And since the cameras are all rated to perform continually at -20 degrees, we’re good to go. The only thing I needed to be concerned about was skiing into a tree while shooting!
We started off with just portraits of the Couple, skiing and hanging out together on the slopes…

Courtney & Andrew are now joined by their friends - it’s time for some serious skiing!

Or, well, maybe not so serious skiing…

Do you know what a worm trail is? It’s where you gather 20 wedding guests together, have them ski very close together all winding down the same path on a hill. Then you have a photographer document it. These skiier are all there for teh Worm! [Except the guy in the back who biffed it - we don't claim him]

Thanks everyone!!! I had a blast skiing with you [I don't remember falling a single time!] and stay tuned, more wedding day pictures coming soon!

Me too Carrie! Anytime you have a question on anything, please feel free to ask it here on the blog. It might take me a day or two to respond to it, but I always will, I promise!
Where are you based out of again?

I didn’t know you were a skiier! We’ll have to go sometime!

OK Julie, just to clarify, being a ’skier’ means you can strap some sticks to your feet and point them downhill. The word ’skier’ in and of itself does not define a particular skill level. So, while I can ski and shoot, all that means is that I haven’t yet run into any trees. Thats not to say that I completely suck. It just means that I am quite at home with a nice green circle, and that maybe I cut loose and go for a blue square every now and then. But I shy away from anything black. And when I say shy away from, I mean panic and try to ski uphill away from what my brain perceives as mortal peril. It’s pretty pathetic, but hey, at least I’m having fun with it, right? I got out to Deer Valley a couple times in the last few weeks, where do you usually ski?
