Hello from gorgeous Las Vegas!  OK, let’s be honest, I haven’t seen much of the scenery of Vegas yet, mostly the interior of hotels and convention centers, but we’re having a blast!  It’s time for the annual Wedding Photographers Convention, where we get to check out the latest and greatest inventions for the photography industry, try out every camera and lens ever built, and hang out with all of our favorite photographers from around the world!  I am delighted to say that the new covers for our Flush Mount Albums look amazing [this is my first time seeing them since they were announced 2 months ago!].  The new swatches were ordered a few weeks ago so we should be receiving them shortly, I am so excited!!!  Let’s see, what else have we done since we’ve been here…

Today has been a busy day, and after snuggling with my honey for a few hours watching the Olympics, I realized that in all my busy craziness of today and planning for the Open House [AKA party] tomorrow night, that I had forgotten to post my Album Monday!!! The San Diego Temple is always a fun location for me to be able to photograph, and this was no exception!

After seeing all of the pictures available for their wedding, Rachelle & Rick decided on an 82 side album holding 159 pictures from their Wedding Day, and I think it turned out absolutely spectacular!

Occasionally, in my line of work, I have the privilege of working with amazing couples that require, for various reasons, that their wedding day be kept private.  Many of my brides love the bragging rights that come with being published in a magazine or on a blog, but when I do have the honor of working with someone who has a public image to maintain, or who have guests with the same requirement, I will do everything in my power to make sure that a couple’s special day is kept for only themselves.

So for the first time, this Monday I am showing you only the beautiful Albums we created for this bride and her husband, but not any of the images inside.  I am thankful that she is willing to let me share her Albums with you, and I hope you are not disappointed by not being able to see the amazing wedding or her custom-made Oscar de la Renta wedding gown!  Hopefully the beauty of these Albums will be able to convey in some small part the stunning event captured in its pages.

So here it is, 10:30 pm on Monday night, and I am just now writing my Album Monday blog post. Why is this you ask? Well, I happen to have a son. The most adorable almost 2 year old in the history of mankind [or at least in the history of my own mind]. It’s true, I’m biased. His school called me this morning to let me know that Zen had thrown up. Not a good thing.

Sorry about posting the Album Monday segment so late in the day, I have been struggling all day long with my blog editing program and finally decided to give up and just use a different editor!  Thank you for your patience, I hope it’s worth the wait!

This is an album I’ve been excited about completing for a long time.  Sara is a doctor finishing her residency in Washington DC, and you may or may not know this, but residents have no time.  At all.  No time to eat, sleep, or finalize album designs!  So here it is at long last!

Part of the reason Sara had to take so long to approve this Book was its sheer size – 300 sides holding almost 500 images!!!

I think we have a new favorite leather cover, and it is just delicious!  It’s called cu29, and I’m in LOVE.  Kathy and Ian selected it to complement their Miami Ink cover by having the cu29 on the spine.

Kathy and Ian’s 12×12″ square album is an amazing Heirloom for the soon-to-be born little baby girl, clocking in at 100 sides and holding 192 images!  [As I have noted before - nothing will light a fire under a Bride to finish selecting her images like the impeding arrival of a new baby!]

I love this Album!  It’s great when I see brides get really creative with their album covers and think outside of the box, outside of what is considered Normal or Regular, and start to really have some fun!

Whitney and Ryan decided on a beautiful leather that I don’t get to see very often called Bank Heist.  Bank Heist is a bronzed ostrich leather, and to complement it, they selected as their accent Chiara.  When she called me and told me what they had decided I positively squealed with delight!!!  It’s just breathtaking…

This was an Album I was a bit sad to have to send on to the Bride and Groom, it is so beautiful!  Thea and John are awaiting the birth of their first child, a daughter, and after a year of waiting on album selections, nothing lights a fire under a bride to pick out images like a new baby!

Thea and John’s amazing 90 side album holds 179 pictures from the Wedding Weekend [including many from the rehearsal].  This Album is 11×14″ and wrapped in a golden ostrich leather cover we call Firefly, crowned with a metal cover with their favorite image of the two of them in the gardens of La Caille after sunset.  It is absolutely an amazing Album!!!!

Album Monday is back baby!  I am so sorry about not posting forever, but we had so many albums we were working on all at once and I knew that if I didn’t put everything I had into getting those done and turned my attention away even for a second to the blog, that might mean someone not getting their album back when they were hoping!  So I hope you forgive me, but my Brides have to come first.  I’m sure you guys understand…

I love this album!!!

I have a new Album Production & Design team I have been using for the past 8 months, and one of the things that drew me to them were the sheer number of choices available for my Brides.  Before this, there was basically Black Leather.  That was it.  Nothing wrong with Black Leather, it’s classic and timeless and all that.

But I never felt really excited about it, all the Albums arriving and all looking identical.  Because my brides are not cookie-cut women, they are strong and intelligent individuals with a unique perspective on life, on their future, and especially on their Wedding!

I love Fall!  I think it is probably my favorite season of the entire year.  You can start to smell it in the air, a slightly colder wind, and the crunch of leaves, all come together to remind me that its time for my favorite time of the entire year!

I love fall colors, Spiced Pumpkin, Golden Squash, Chestnut Brown, and of course, a nice bright bold Red to bring it all together!

Today on Album Monday I have an amazing 100 side album to show you!  Grace and Richard and their spouses have all been best friends for over 20 years together.

When Grace lost her husband and Richard lost his wife within a relatively short time together, they were able to lean on each other for support.

What started as a 20+ year friendship grew to an amazing love story, and I was privileged to be able to document their wedding day.

I’m so excited! We now have brand spanking new cover samples for all of our Books!  There are over 80 different options available for all Books, leathers, silks, suedes, and many many more!

Books are perfect for brides who absolutely love their wedding pictures and simply cannot narrow them down to anything less than 450!  That’s right, our Books comfortably hold up to 450 images on 300 pages.  Gorgeous.  Absolutely gorgeous.

Man, I am just exhausted!  I just got back in town from shooting an incredible wedding in New York with a fabulous bride and groom, and while it was a long day shooting and long flights there and back, it was absolutely worth it!  But that’s not the subject of today’s post, it’s Album Monday, and we have another installment for you!

This is Kacey & Jake’s Guest Sign-in Book, I was so happy they went with a fun cover, it reflects their personality in that this Green is so bright, so saturated in color you’d have to describe its personality as vivacious, and also unusual!

Welcome back to Album Monday!  Sorry i took last week off from posting, with Labor Day on Album Monday and 3 weddings in 6 days, it was pretty hectic, and besides I knew you all would forgive me if I made the posts super awesome, so here we go!

This is an album I have been SO excited to show everyone since the moment it was ordered!  I feel a tiny bit guilty right now, because I had a different album I was going to show you today, and literally UPS just dropped it off, and the bride hasn’t seen it yet!!!  But then again, Jess you live in London and it’s gonna take over a week to get to you anyway, so now you get to see it faster!!!

Sorry for the two part blog post, but this is one of my favorite Books I’ve ever had the opportunity to design, and there’s just too much to show!  So this is a 200 side 8×8 Book, and while I can’t show the entire 200 sides, I did pick out my favorite 30 spreads to show here!

One of my favorite aspect about designing a Book is that I get to have so many images as full page spreads.  It’s a photographer’s dream to see our images this big, and so many of them!

Remember, these are full spreads so they are actually 16 inches long by 8 inches high in the final Book.  Enjoy!

Album Monday is back Baby!  Not that it ever went away, I just wanted that say it.  Anyway, yeah!  Hooray for Album Monday!  Today I have an awesome Wedding Book I have been so excited to show you ever since I designed it, and it came in and now here it is!  This is Cortney & John’s Wedding Book.  They decided on an 8×8 Book holding just over 300 images on 200 sides.  The cover is called Metallic and is a silver highly-reflective surface with a tweed stamping.  I included tons of pictures of this cover because depending on how the light is shining on it, it goes from being a very light gray to a very dark gray.  Cortney and John also wanted it to be completely custom just for them, so in addition to the custom design of the layout, we also had a dye made to have their names embossed in the center of the front cover.  The style of Book is called Paris, from the French Line, and was printed on the Glossy Paper. I still prefer the Premium paper personally because of it’s thickness, but Cortney and John had such bright colors at their wedding and wanted to make sure that the saturation came through exactly as it was in real life.  If you are wondering why there are 2 Books, Cortney also got one as a present for her mother!

I love Album Monday!  Today’s Album may not seem as glamorous and beautiful as the other albums we usually feature on here, but it’s an important part of our Process here and something that all of my Full-Day Package Brides get complementary with their wedding coverage, so you’ll know what to expect!

This is the Proof Album.  It is about 8 inches high by 10 inches wide, and depending on how many images there are from your wedding, about an inch thick.  It contains a complete record of all of the edited images from your Wedding Day. Your wedding images are printed 6-up on a page with their ID number underneath for easy identification and comparison between similar images.

Album Monday is back again!  Today I’ve got a new Album for you, this is the Guest Sign-in Book.  So instead of a boring book filled with signatures and nothing else, these books show off the pictures from your engagement and bridal sessions and leave plenty of white space so that your guests can leave their thought, best wishes and congratulations with you.  The Sign-in Books are 8 inches tall, and we vary the width according to how many guests you think you’ll have coming.  Emily and Taylor knew that they had sent out 450 invitations, and we always plan on one person per invitation sent, so we went with an 8×12 book for them.  They chose a cover of black leather, but as you can see below, these albums come in just about every color under the sun!  If you are looking for a more traditional wedding album, the Guest Sign-in Book allows you to go wild and pick any color you choose!  We offer them in different page numbers as well, 20, 30 or 40 pages, again, depending on how many guests you will be inviting and how many images you would like to have in your Book.

Sorry I didn’t post at all this past week, I spent the time coming up with a new format to the blog, bigger teaser pictures and better use of space for verticals. It seems like such a small thing to spend that time on, but I think overall it’s going to be a much better resource for my clients and an easier read for everyone! I worked so hard that I almost missed Album Monday, but I am gonna just barely make it – woo hoo!!!

Today’s Album is for Bridget & Erik, one of my favorite weddings from 2008! They are pregnant now and that light a fire under them to pick out their images and get this put to bed before their lives get too baby crazy! Bridget and Erik decided on a 120 side 11×14 Album with Black Leather, holding 240 images from the wedding day! It is just stunning, absolutely stunning!!! They also opted for duplicate 8×10 Parent Albums for their families to enjoy as well. All 3 Albums were bound in genuine Black Leather and printed on Premium Photographic Paper. I love it when brides order their Albums in the summertime because typically the companies that produce these amazing books are busier in the fall and winter, so my Brides get their Albums back a little bit sooner, always a plus!
