Every January, you’ll find me at the Bridal Fairs. Not as a participant, because I’ll be honest, I hate doing those things and setting up booths and all that. I haven’t done a bridal fair in years and years and years and I’m very grateful that I don’t have to do them anymore. But, I do LOVE attending them! It’s a great chance to get to see a bunch of friends, chat up my favorite vendors, and see if there’s anything new and cool that I have to know about. I did find one company that I thought was particularly newsworthy!

The Smart Cookie Company does really really yummy cookies. As a connoisseur of sugar cookies myself, I am very picky about the kind of cream cheese frosting on the top, as well as the ratio of frosting to cookie. I think these are magnificent, and if you’d looking for something different for your wedding guests, something to have in the hotel room to welcome them to a destination wedding, these were fantastic. You will not want to skip this event. We don’t even know you yet, but we know you’re out there, searching for something special, something to less run-of-the-mill, something sensational. If we’re lucky enough to meet you at the SUPER trunk show next weekend, we just know you’ll find the one.

For those of you who don’t know or understand what trunk shows are [and I was one of them until about a month ago] here’s the skinny:

Designers will come out with a line of 15-25 gowns each season.  The shops that carry these designers than decide which ones they will carry in their store as samples, but no one ever carries an entire line, they pick the 5 or so they think will most appeal to their clients.  So at a trunk show, a designer brings not just their entire line, but also new designs that no one has seen.

Also, if you go to a trunk show, you get to meet the designer, plus you get to hear their feedback on what will work perfectly for your body shape, and as an added bonus, if you need something custom done to your dress [listen up all you LDS brides who need sleeves that match perfectly with your original design!!!], the designer will be able to take care of it for you personally.

PLUS, many store give a discount if you buy a dress during a trunk show, which is great.

I wear one of her necklaces everywhere I go [weather it's a formal occasion or just going to the grocery store in my jeans] and strangers always stop me to ask where I got that beautiful necklace.

Her work can be found on www.bobbienix.com and you have to check it out for some great ideas! Like I said, I am probably heavily biased, but I think her work is unparalleled, even amongst the couture lines.

The cool thing/bad news is that every thing she does is custom, so if you see something you like and it’s already sold, she could find similar pieces but it won’t be an exact match.

I firmly believe a good rule of thumb is 3 candles per guest. So if you have 50 people, a minimum of 150 candles to make your reception look fabulous, if you have 200 people, a minimum of 600 candles. It sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t too many.

Count them. That’s 42 candles for the mantle, and another 65 for the walkway into the reception.
And remember, it’s not about the size of the candles, but the number of little lights glittering!

So I recommend having a mixture of tall candles, medium candles, small candles, and then bitty candles like tealights.

Candles, candles, everywhere!

All night long the guests were ooohing and aaaahing over the decorations, but the hundreds of tealights everywhere definitely helped!

So, rent all your candles from your florist, and then go to IKEA and buy the bags of 100 for $15. Get 5 bags. It will be the best $75 of your wedding, I promise you! Tealights last anywhere from 4-6 hours, so don’t worry about them burning out before the night is over, unless you have weird pyromaniac guests who sit there and play with them. But to look really great, don’t forget to get some taller candles as well.
